Step one Fly to Johannesburg

The Into the Wild Go Gap package kicks off with the flight from London Stansted to Johannesburg. Start your trip in style with a free airport lounge pass courtesy of Escape before flying with Emirates by way of Dubai to Johannesburg. Settle down and grab a drink you have plenty of time to relax before you touch down in South Africa.

Step two Johannesburg and Surrounds

You can choose to arrive in Johannesburg a few days early and hang out the city has so much to do and see; including the Apertheid museum or a bicycle tour of Soweto.

Step three South Africa Wildlife Sanctuary

Then head to Hartebeespoort for the animal experience of a lifetime a South Africa wildlife volunteer experience. You ll be picked up at O.R.Tambo international airport and meet your fellow volunteers. Over the course of the next ten days you can expect to get involved with creating fire breaks; many species such as the tortoises dung beetles and chameleons become victims of fires that break out on the sanctuary s land. Firebreaks are put in place to protect the sanctuary and control fire spread. You ll alos get involved in enclosure construction; helping to renovate maintain or construct new enclosures. You ll also be assisting with anti poaching fence patrols that involve guided walks along the perimeter of the park to ensure that the fencing in intact. You ll also get a chance to help clear alien vegetation assist with anti erosion control and other maintenance projects on the sanctuary grounds. Finally you ll get the chance to work on an animal life improvement project where volunteers can help improve the lives of the sanctuary s inhabitants by doing day to day cleaning feeding and walking painting the sanctuary s facilities and building new enclosures and swimming pools for some of the animals.

Step four Fly to Dar es Salam

When you have finished volunteering it s time to fly to Tanzania for the final leg of your trip. The flight takes less than two hours so you will not lose much time in the air.

Step six Fly to London Stansted

Into the Wild has finished all that s left is to fly back to London Stansted with a head (and camera) full of memories that will last a lifetime.

Step five 22 day Zanzibar Victoria Falls & Kruger tour

This once in a lifetime safari from Dar es Salaam to Pretoria will see you travelling through some of Africa s most memorable and Instagram worthy landscapes. Relax on idyllic Zanzibar test the water in Lake Malawi get a load of Victoria Falls and mingle with the wildlife in Kruger National Park. This action soaked expedition is guaranteed to float your boat! You ll kick off in Zanzibar before heading for a taste of Tanzania s scenic Southern Highlands. After the last night in Tanzania head through lush mountain passes rich grazing land and both banana and tea plantations on the way to Songwe the border post into Malawi spending a couple of days at the Chitimba Beach campsite. From here you ll head to Kande Beach Lusaka Livingstone (to see the EPIC Victoria Falls) before heading to Bulawayo Tshipise Big Five spotting at Hazyview in South Africa before winding up in Pretoria. Phew!
